- RCollaborative Platform Innovation

The Challenge
Cross-functional Goal Collaboration
Priority 1: Provide actionable insights to boost team innovation across platform verticals
Priority 2: Elevate team inclusion and equity with team hypothesis development and capture team contributions.
My Role
As principal designer, I researched and designed Google AppSheet (ML) integration to leverage Google Workspace communications for goal collaboration. I developed flows to map product data to actionable insights inspired by Google, Looker, and MixPanel. I planned primary views in AppSheet with social collaboration features to push team engagement to activity feeds. I designed prototypes with card activity feeds to segment goal observation, hypothesis development, and team activity inspired by Reddit and GitHub.
1. UX Research
Leveraging UX for Growth Boosts Avgerage ROI of 9900%
Quickly growing companies amplify their ROI by investing in UX/UI for their own team upfront. Forrester Research states every dollar invested in UX yields an average of 100 dollars in return, but it’s a staggering ROI of 9,900% for UX. This product unites teams with their UX efforts and minizes the time to insight, time to hypothesize pivots, and automates team collaboration as it tracks engagement in an inclusive way.
Unite Team Data to Make Cross-Functional Collaboration Observable
I interviewed living experts to identify technical roadblocks preventing teams from capturing their own contributions in product development.
STEP 1
Prioritize Pain Points
Research team needs to add transparency and reduce throughput times.
- Siloed teams
- Buried assets
- Separate platforms
- Too many tools
- Lost data insights
- Too many meetings
STEP 1
Identify Dependencies
Ranking critical data, locate assets, and tool dependencies.
- CRM
- Data + insights
- Finance + billing
- Project management
- Resource management
- Time + expenses
- Timeline collaboration
STEP 3
Prioritize Tasks
Reassess tasks by time restraints, rank disruptive team impact.
- Scale Google workspace
- Flexibly scale features
- Drive Innovation
- Provide actionable insights
Reassess with Domain Experts + Leadership
Teams operating on Google Workspace can unite their data securely and observe team utilization intuitively. We had to build modular components over time, so it was important I designed a consistent format to make actionable insights intuitive for everyone.
UX Strategy + Hypothesis
I had a haunch if I incorporated common elements from social media (ie: Reddit) and team collaboration (ie: GitHub), I could design a solution intuitive enough to onboard team adoption. It was important to me to democratize hypotheses and goals and err on the side of simplicity.
Developing Journeys and Task Mapping for Primary Archetypes
After task-mapping possible engagements, I mapped them to views with interactive journeys for our primary archetypes for three primary views: Insights, Goals, and Activity.

Design Explorations
Linking Actionable Insights and Team Equity from Data Visualizations
I drew inspiration from MixPanel and VOGSY’s resourceful dashboards, but I intentionally kept it simple to encourage exploration from multi-disciplinary teams. I sketch visualizations for Product Iteration Goals, Resource Utilization, and Work Load to help our team plan for the week.
Social Media-Inspired Team Collaboration and Activity Observation
I researched team production tools and social media formats and incorporated notifications on a team activity board. I map automation and flow for inclusive goal collaboration with built-in data-tracking to capture team equity in real-time.

Scalable UI Design System
UI Styles are helpful for scaling product iterations with continuity and ease. Specifications are helpful for the cross-functional team to define brand guidelines, navigation, icons, and fundamentals to build functionality for the app from the ground up.

Results
• Increased goal observation from 20% of team to 200% with multiple verticals.
• Increased innovation by providing a platform to develop new features by hypothesis.
• Reduced response time with @mentions and Google Workspace preferences.
• Reduced interruptions with notifications and correspondence configured by Gmail settings.
• Reduced time to insight on collaborative team utilization and iterative goal impact.
The Bottom Line: Designed to Scale
Defining a well-designed UI system brings me joy. UX/UI amplifies time to insight and aids communicating with Data Visualization.
Data analysis and visualization is a passion of mine, and I look forward to mapping out the rest of my UX strategy in the coming weeks. If you have questions on additional visualizations or my inspiration for this project, I encourage you to reach out and contact me. I’d love to hear from you.
